Illustrator CC - Gradient Mesh - Mickey Mouse

~Gradient Mesh~ 



As you can see below, I created a gradient mesh in Illustrator of Mickey Mouse. I was inspired to develop mickey because I currently live in Florida, and growing up, I would go to Disney World every spring break. It was something I looked forward to as a young child every year. Also, within the program Illustrator CC, I needed to practice using the pen tool. He was perfect for this because of his simple character design. After completing this project using the pen tool and incorporating gradient mesh, I have realized this is how artist make their artwork come to life.


As a new artist in Illustrator, I loved completing this project because it allowed me to see simple posters, banners, and online artwork from a new perspective. It’s impressive, and I admire the artwork that much more. Even though it most likely doesn’t take a professional illustrator user much time in comparison to me, it motivates me to spend more time mastering these skills to advance to “the next level.”

    Mollllyy I love this!!! It's so cute and of course I'm obligated to love anything Mickey lol

    I think you did great with this... The only thing I'd like to see is maybe some red or yellow in the background to make him pop off your page, but honestly I really think you did a great job!

    I agree that a simple background with some color would complement Micky well! The shapes and use of the gradient mesh tool is well represented in this project. Great job for such a new aspiring artist!

Illustrator CC - Self Portrait "Be True. Be You. Be Kind." I believe mantras inspire and give confidence to people so they can do or become whatever their heart desires. Photoshop - Somewhere

Photoshop ~Somewhere~ Somewhere, a place that we were asked to place ourselves. The purpose of this piece is to put ourselves in an area that we would love to be or haven't been. Above, is either a picture that was taken from a drone or a helicopter. Accurately, this photo captures the NYC Marathon runners. I chose this photo because I want to one day run a marathon. As a retired student-athlete, I love competing and training for a goal.   Above is the picture I chose for myself. I had a friend sit on top of their car and take this for me with their iPhone. We both thought it was a great idea to run with the sun beaming down on my right side to create the correct running shadow. I chose to use an iPhone for capturing this to match the blurry effect as much as possible. I will say I enjoyed choosing this for my first somewhere experiment because it wasn't overly challenging. InDesign - Business Cards

InDesign ~Business Cards~ For this project, we were asked to create three business cards through InDesign while incorporating the previous logo we made in Illustrator CC. The three layouts I designed are below! Business Card 1 - Front Business Card 1 - Back For this first card, I wanted to keep the layout clean and sleek while still being creative. I didn't want my logo to be on the front of my card because I felt as though it would be too cramped. Therefore, I chose to keep the front, simple and sleek while still maintaining the design. Also, the footprints guide the viewer's eyes to the edge of the card, which would cue them to flip it over to find my information. Honestly, this is my favorite design out of all three.
